Dangerously cold wind chills pose threat tonight

The National Weather Service has issued the following special weather statement:

FRIGID TEMPERATURES ALONG WITH MODERATE TO STRONG NORTH WINDS WILL CREATE DANGEROUSLY COLD WIND CHILL TEMPERATURES THIS EVENING THROUGH EARLY TONIGHT.

THE COMBINATION OF MODERATE TO STRONG NORTH WINDS AND TEMPERATURES WELL BELOW FREEZING WILL CREATE WIND CHILL READINGS BETWEEN 20 AND 30 DEGREES BELOW ZERO FOR THE NORTHERN MOUNTAINS ABOVE APPROXIMATELY 7500 FEET THROUGH EARLY TONIGHT. ELSEWHERE...

WIND CHILL READINGS FROM 15 TO 5 DEGREES BELOW ZERO WILL CREATE DANGEROUSLY COLD WIND CHILL TEMPERATURES THROUGH EARLY TONIGHT. WINDS WILL SUBSIDE BY EARLY TONIGHT BUT TEMPERATURES WILL CONTINUE TO FALL INTO THE LOW TEENS AND SINGLE DIGITS IN THE LOWER ELEVATIONS AND 10 TO 25 DEGREES BELOW ZERO MOUNTAINS. CONDITIONS WILL IMPROVE TUESDAY AFTERNOON AS PLENTIFUL SUNSHINE ALLOWS FOR AT LEAST SOME TEMPERATURE MODERATION.
