If you missed Riverdance’s last tour stop in Albuquerque, don’t fret. Belisama Irish Dance Company and School present “Rhythm of Fire 2010” Saturday and Sunday at the James A. Little Theater.

“Rhythm of Fire 2010” is a family friendly show featuring local dancers and musicians.

“Rhythm of Fire 2010” features Belisama’s blend of high-energy traditional hard shoe and soft shoe dances and original choreography by director Adrienne Bellis and members of the dance company.

Recently awarded Irish Dance Champion Caitlin Kossmann will dance a traditional hard shoe set choreographed for her by Riverdance lead dancer Michael Patrick Gallagher.

This year, the show will also feature the choreography of Kieran Jordan, a master teacher of Sean-Nos or “old style” Irish Dance.

Sean-Nos is a traditional, percussive style of Irish dance.

Live Irish music by the Los Alamos group “Roaring Jelly” will be featured throughout the show, with Belisama Irish dancers Maria Jones and Maggie King appearing on fiddle. Special guest Lisa Carman will play guitar and sing with Adrienne Bellis, director  and founder of Belisama Irish Dance Company and School.

Belisama Irish Dance School is home to                         45 dancers from Santa Fe, Los Alamos, White Rock and Rio Rancho ranging in ages from 7-60.

The Belisama Irish Dance Company features 14 local dancers including eight past and present national champions.

Many of the dancers have performed locally with international entertainers such as Trinity Irish Dance Company, Natalie MacMaster, Eileen Ivers, Lunasa and Gaelic Storm.

She first studied Irish dance in California with the Claddagh School of Irish Dancing and is a national champion, as a member of an adult eight-hand ceili team.

Bellis is also an accomplished singer, featured on various recordings and soundtracks. She currently performs around Northern New Mexico with singer/songwriter Lisa Carman.

Performances will be  held at 7 p.m. Saturday and at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

Tickets are available at Brownell’s Hallmark, or call 670-1325.

Prices are $10 for children, students and seniors and $15 for adults. The James A. Little Theater is located 1060 Cerrillos Road in Santa Fe.
