Marcia Kaplan will present Crowdfunding at 6:30 p.m. Thursday to the Los Alamos Entrepreneurs’ Network at The Hive in White Rock. The public is invited.
Crowdfunding is a new method of raising funds for one-time creative projects, non-profits, social causes and businesses. Currently, most campaigns are donation-based. To raise money for a project, cause or business, those interested should attend the presentation to learn more about the crowdfunding opportunity.
Also, in April, as part of the JOBS Act passed by Congress, equity crowdfunding for entrepreneurs and small businesses became legal in the United States. In 2013, entrepreneurs, inventors and small businesses will be able to raise funds via crowdfunding. Learn about the different crowdfunding models and the benefits and limitations of crowdfunding.
The speaker is Marcia Kaplan, principal of Kaplan & Associates, a Santa Fe-based consulting firm that specializes in market research, marketing, due diligence and business plans. Kaplan has worked with both, Fortune 500 companies and start-ups in the Silicon Valley.
