The Los Alamos County Sheriff’s office and police administration will relocate to temporary office space this week.
Bruce Takala, the sheriff and his staff, along with Police Chief Wayne Torpy and his support staff, will be co-located in a modular unit on the west end of the former municipal building parking lot where the new Judicial/Police/Jail Complex is being constructed.
They are expected to remain in this location for the next few months while renovations are taking place inside the existing police building to accommodate the addition of the new courthouse on the eastern edge of the site.
The move is expected to take one or two days and computers may be down overnight during the furniture move.
However, all phones will still receive voicemail messages. Staff will then return phone calls after the move is completed.
Residents should follow signage to the temporary offices upon entering the parking lot and use caution near the construction work zone.
