After a two-week break, county council will be back in council chambers at 7 p.m. Tuesday night for their weekly meeting.

They’ll be busy Wednesday night as well, because they are holding a joint council meeting with the Pueblo of San Ildefonso. That meeting is scheduled to take place at 7 p.m. in the Pajarito Room at Fuller Lodge.

Both the consent and business portions of the agenda for Tuesday’s meeting are moderately heavy. In addition, there will be an introduction of ordinance and two public hearings during the meeting, as well as a proclamation declaring June 10, 2009 as Los Alamos County Day.

The consent agenda will begin with an approval of a report to District Court on Los Alamos County Jail conditions.

The second item on the consent agenda will be the acceptance of a grant from the New Mexico Aging and Long Term Services Department for the purchase of a vehicle for the senior center; and approval of Budget Revision 2009-28 in the amount of $40,901.

Also slated for the consent agenda is the approval of General Services Agreement AGR3524-09 with Cutler Repaving Inc., in the amount of $261,705, which includes NM GRT for the purpose of heated asphalt recycling/resurfacing, associated with the 2009 Pavement Preservation Plan for performing preservation treatment on collector streets in Los Alamos.

The introduction of ordinances scheduled to be made Tuesday pertains to Code Ordinance No. 02-101; an ordinance repealing Section 16-460 of the Los Alamos County Code of Ordinances.

The first public hearing to be heard will pertain to Ordinance No. 543; an ordinance amending and restating the economic development plan of the county in accordance with the local economic development act.

The second public hearing is an ordinance amending Chapter 40, Article III, Sections 40-201 of the Los Alamos County code, increasing sewer and utility rates.

The business portion of the agenda has four items on it. The first is discussion and direction to staff regarding salary increases for elected officials. The second is a presentation to council on the North Central Regional Transit District. The third is a presentation and discussion of the NM 502/DP Road project by the New Mexico Department of Transportation. The last item is the selection of members for the Historical Sculptures Master Plan Committee.

Council will also make appointments to the utilities board during the meeting. In addition, the Council B&C FY 10 Work Plan Review Committee will make a recommendation for the Parks and Recreation Board FY 10 Work Plan.

The Wednesday night meeting will focus primarily on economic development. There are five items scheduled for the agenda that night, with the first being a joint resolution of the Pueblo de San Ildefonso and Los Alamos County’s common interests. The second item is a presentation and discussion of the Los Alamos County economic development initiatives. The third is another presentation and discussion, however, this one will focus on San Ildefonso Pueblo’s economic initiatives. The fourth item will be an open discussion on items of mutual interest, followed by items from the floor. San Ildefonso Pueblo Governor Leon Roybal will lead the invocation and closing of the meeting.
