Council meeting to be held in White Rock

County councilors will hold their monthly work session at the White Rock Town Hall on Tuesday night, beginning at 7 p.m.

During the meeting, Police Chief Wayne Torpy will introduce new District Attorney Angela R. (Spence) Pacheco. Pacheco was elected as the new district Attorney for the First Judicial District Court. During the introduction, Pacheco will brief the council about the district attorney’s representation in Los Alamos County.

In addition, Charlie Nylander, of Water Matters LLC, will provide an overview of the organizations activities and give a briefing on the Española Regional Planning Issues Forum.

Also during Tuesday night’s meeting, a motion to approve the Los Alamos County Assessor Valuation Plan will be presented to council for approval.

Environmental Manager Regina Wheeler will be present during the meeting to brief council on the Eco Station construction completion. The Eco station construction contract was awarded in June 2007 and was completed in December 2008. The project budget set at the time of award was $6,508,000 and included money for a construction inspector, geotechnical testing, major utility duct bank relocation, construction and 6 percent contingency.

Assistant County Administrator Anthony Mortillaro will ask council to approve an amendment to restated purchase, sale and lease agreement for land associated with the Entrada project On Oct. 21, 2008 the council authorized an amendment to the agreement for sale and license to Main Gate LLC for the development of lots A-3, A-7 and A-3-1. However, one lot (Lot 6) remains. The request provides for an additional amendment, which clarifies that the option payment can be credited against the purchase price of the property within the current year of the option period.

Chief Financial Officer Steven Lynne will give councilors a briefing on county investments during the meeting, as well.

Councilors will also take action on filling two vacancies on the Art in Public Places Board left by the resignation of Stede Barber, whose current term ends on March 24, 2009; and Joanna Gillespie, whose term ended on Dec. 9, 2008. Gillespie is seeking reappointment to the Board, while councilors received an application from Peggy Pendergast, who wishes to fill the second vacancy.
