Dear Editor,
The skate park discussion has been revealing. Our County Council continues to be convinced that it has been anointed by God as the bearer of truth to the multitudes and should not be questioned. In 10 years, when this county’s population has decreased substantially due to decreased funding at the lab and the major economic projects initiated under this Council’s guidance are failing due to lack of customers, we will see by whom they were anointed.
Mesa Public Library is one of the crown jewels of Los Alamos County. Siting the skate park in its proposed location will seriously impact its availability to many county patrons, principally the aged and the very young. Teen age skating is a wonderful recreation but it is not quiet and not linked to contemplative pursuits.
The skate park itself is a great idea. The County Council has no trouble finding alternate sites for projects that will spend more money. Let their awesome creativity be put to work here.
