County Council will meet Tuesday night in council chambers for their regularly scheduled weekly meeting. This week, in addition to a few business items, a public hearing and an ordinance introduction are also on the agenda.

According to county documents, the introduction of ordinance amends certain sections of the County Code pertaining to child passenger restraint and unlawful use of license. Recent substantive changes have been made to the State Traffic Code. These changes were made to sections relating to DWI, subsequent driers licensing regulations after DWI conviction and child restraint. The police department, in order to maintain consistency of County Code with State Law, has worked with Attorney’s office to develop these amendments. These changes will make enforcement, case presentation, adjudication and sentencing similar in both municipal and magistrate court.

A public hearing will also be held to discuss the proposed code ordinance that will revise the Procurement Code. The proposed ordinance revising the Procurement Code modernizes, clarifies and streamlines this section of the County Code.

In addition, Utilities Manager John Arrowsmith will present a report on electric distribution system reliability. Chief Financial Officer Steven Lynne will discuss budget revisions related to the recent bond issuance. And the design build for the municipal building/downtown redevelopment project will also be discussed.
