Los Alamos County Council on Tuesday will consider passing Amendment No. 1 to a services agreement with Hensel Phelps Construction of New Mexico. The amendment calls for the company to move forward with actual construction with a guaranteed maximum price for the first phase of $14,8111,011, plus Gross Receipts Tax.

First phase work will include mobilization, site clearing and earthwork, utilities, some structural work related to Buildings B & C and procurement of long-lead time for market sensitive materials, such as steel millwork for the buildings. If approved the work would begin before the end of July.

In other business, the council will hear a presentation for Community Development Director Rick Bohn and Housing Programs Manager Steven Brugger on a Draft Housing Rehabilitation Program Proposal and consider a contract for an electronic security system using Radio Frequency Identification, which is intended to enable self-check out by library patrons. The proposed security system would also help keep the collections in order.

Year-end budget revisions for this fiscal year will be considered, along with a contract with Los Alamos Commerce and Development Corporation for $160,000 to operate the Los Alamos Meeting and Visitors Bureau. The corporation has run the bureau for more than 10 years.
