The top wrestling tandem for Los Alamos High School, brothers Cory and Brian Geyer got some tough draws early on at the National High School Wrestling Finals.
Brian Geyer, the state champion at 182 pounds this year, was knocked out of the finals Friday.
The national finals are being held this weekend in Virginia Beach, Va.
Brian Geyer lost to a state placer from California — that state has just one individual champion for each weight class — and the state champion from New York.
Cory Geyer, the state runner-up at 160 pounds this season, was still alive heading into Saturday’s competition, though he lost an early-round match-up to a two-time California state placer.
Only the top individual placers from prep competition are nvited to the national tournament.
