Road Construction Update: Week of Sept. 3
Non-County Projects of Significance:
Smith’s Marketplace: Contractor Utility Work on Trinity between Knecht and DP Road:
The south eastbound lane on Trinity Drive will be closed between Knecht and DP Road starting Tuesday, expect congestion and plan for delays, especially during the evening commute. Alternate routes are recommended. This work will continue through November.
Smith’s Marketplace: Truck Traffic on N.M. 502 and Trinity Drive Near MariMac
Construction continues at the Marketplace work site south of MariMac Plaza through opening day in May 2014, which means motorists using Main Hill Road (N.M. 502) and Trinity Drive near the Marketplace work site can expect to continue to see significant truck traffic. Expect delays and allow extra time if using this route, or seek alternate routes.
Public Works Projects:
Eastern Area 2 Concrete, Paving & Utility Project – Phase 2:
Canyon Road is paved. Work continues on 15th Street as well as on Arroyo Lane and Verde Ridge. The contractor will not be working on Labor Day.
Contractor has adjusted manhole and valve collars on Canyon to match the grade of the new pavement. Once new concrete is placed, the manhole and valve areas will remain coned off until the fresh concrete has cured.
15th Street will be open to two-way traffic with a series of side street closures described below.
On Tuesday, North Sage at 15th Street will be closed for the installation of a concrete valley gutter. This intersection will reopen on Friday, Sept. 6. During the closure, use alternate routes.
On Tuesday, north Oakwood Loop at 15th will be closed for the installation of a concrete valley gutter. This intersection will reopen on Friday, Sept. 6. During the closure, use south Oakwood Loop.
On Tuesday, Nectar at 15th Street will be closed for the installation of concrete pavement on the east end of Nectar adjacent to 15th Street. The work zone will encompass the easternmost 75 feet of Nectar. This intersection will reopen on Monday, Sept. 16. All other access points to and driveways on Nectar will remain open.
On Friday, South Sage at 15th will be closed for the installation of a concrete valley gutter. This intersection will reopen on Thursday, Sept. 12. During the closure, use alternate routes.
Also on Friday, south Oakwood Loop at 15th will be closed for the installation of a concrete valley gutter. This intersection will reopen on Thursday, September 12. During the closure please use north Oakwood Loop.
On Verde Ridge and Arroyo Lane, base course placement continues. Progress has been delayed due to difficulty in obtaining base course deliveries. Paving is anticipated to start mid-week.
Western Area Phase 1:
43rd Street north of Trinity and 44th Street north of Trinity remain closed to through traffic.
Access to residences as well as services such as mail delivery, emergency services, and trash and recycling collection will be maintained. Residents are asked to maximize use of off-street parking. Any necessary on-street parking should be away from the active work zones. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. with possible weekend work if necessary.
Concrete Work on White Rock Streets:
The manhole and valve collars in the roadway of the recently repaved streets must be adjusted to the new pavement grade. This work will move to Isleta, Kayenta, Mimbres (both sides), Sierra Vista, Cañada Circle, Balboa, and Alhambra. Work will consist of excavation around the manholes and valve covers followed by placement of new concrete collars. Expect the work area to be coned off. Please use caution when maneuvering around the work area. Work on these streets, including the required concrete cure time, will take approximately seven days.
Cañada del Buey Multi-Use Trail Improvements:
The contractor has completed base course placement should be paving the week of Sept. 3. Expect a lane drop on Longview with flagging operations. Use of alternate routes is recommended whenever possible.
Canyon Glen Bridge Safety Attenuators:
Expect concrete work in the vicinity of the recently installed attenuators. Vehicular traffic is not impacted; however, pedestrians are asked to use the provided pedestrian pathway until the new sidewalk is opened.

Gas Line Work Near Fire Station #6 on East Road:
On East Road in the vicinity of 457 East Rd (Fire Station #6) DPU Contractor continues work behind shoulder traffic control and concrete barriers on both sides of the road.
Directional boring across East Road for two gas lines will upgrade and improve safety of the East Park Gas Regulator Station.
