Join Juanita “Winnie” Madland for another pedagogical pianist concert-lecture, at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Fuller Lodge. The concert is a part of the free Los Alamos Arts Council Brown Bag series.
Madland has a myriad of pieces and facts at her fingertips with a master’s degree in piano performance and a bachelor’s degree with majors in piano and music education, and minors in European history and English. In April, she posted a Chopin “Etude” and a Brahms “Intermezzo” on YouTube. These will be included in the Brown Bag show with Schubert’s “D.946,” Schumann’s “Romances” and Ginastera's “Argentinian Dances.”
In the tradition of 19th century piano concerts, she will give a similar program Sept. 18 in Charles’ Piano Shop in Albuquerque. She has played in similar venues in Antwerp, Vienna, Oslo, Trieste and in many U.S. venues.
Madland practices what she preaches to her students: She won the New Mexico adult concerto competition; has played concertos with orchestras in Los Alamos, Albuquerque and Wisconsin.
