A jury has awarded $3.64 million to a New Mexico company that sued to challenge the bidding process after a competitor in 2007 won a contract to provide administrative services for the federal contractor that manages Los Alamos National Laboratory.

The Albuquerque Journal reports that a District Court jury on Tuesday decided in favor of Orion Technical Resources LLC on its claims of breach of implied contract and breach of the duty of good faith and fair dealing.

Orion alleged that Los Alamos National Security LLC used an unfair procurement process that resulted in the contract going to COMPA Industries.

LANS denied that it had departed from bidding plan procedures, that it deviated from its customary practices and that it allowed COMPA to fix problems with its proposal.
