Community invited to a party Friday

Friday, we are having the summer concert/party at Los Alamos National Bank with the Boulder Acoustic Society and hopefully, you.

Everybody who appreciates music and good times should come. The show is free and starts at 7 p.m.

The Boulder Acoustic Society probably makes you think the group is from Boulder, Colo., and that they play folk music.

Good guess, but they’re a lot more than humdinger folk singers. They’re a fusion of folk and punk. Maybe call them indie-folk rock?

They say their influences are war, love, hip-hop, jazz, funk, blues, folk and world music. You can sure hear rock and punk in their rhythms.

At times they remind me of the Irish punk folk bands, the Pogues, Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphy and Black 47 or America’s the Knitters and X.

BAS’s instrumentation includes accordion, keys, percussion, guitar, lap steel guitar, banjo, ukuleles and stand-up bass.

They write excellent lyrics, have wonderful stage energy and the critics love their live shows and the new CD, “Punchline.” LANB always adds to the concert series in some way.

I don’t know what they have planned for Friday, but I thank them for being great hosts. We also produce some of our best concerts at the bank.

Thank you LANB for being a sponsor for every one of our 21 years of production. You can read about and listen to BAS at www.boulderacousticsociety.net. You can read about LANB at www.lanb.com. You can check out upcoming shows, our sponsors and links to our acts at www.gordonsconcerts.com. June 25 will be the Relay For Life fundraiser for the American Cancer Society and concert. The music will be provided by Scottish folk band, Old Blind Dogs. It’ll be a tremendous evening. Please go to www.oldblinddogs.co.uk and www.chamber                                organizer.com/calendar/moreinfo.php?eventid=21347.

If you’d like to make a contribution to the Los Alamos County Summer Concert Series, you can send it to LACSCS, 109 Central Park Square.

Hope you can make it to the show.
