Local nonprofits recently benefited from a boon in grants from the Santa Fe Community Foundation. Giving away 58 percent more funds than last year, the Foundation granted $485,000 to 56 nonprofit agencies serving Santa Fe, Los Alamos, Mora, San Miguel, Taos and Rio Arriba counties.Family Strengths Network, located in the Pueblo Complex on Diamond Drive, received $10,000 for parenting programs at the family resource center.The Food Depot, Bienvenidos Outreach, CASA, Homewise Inc., Think New Mexico, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern New Mexico, Las Cumbres Community Services, Girls Inc., and dozens of other organizations also received grants from the Foundation. Los Alamos residents and community programs support many of these organizations. The Foundation received 157 applications totaling $1.9 million to the Community Grants Program, Lesbian and Gay Community Funding Partnership and the Native American Advised Fund. In addition, the new Future Santa Fe Fund, a giving group of young philanthropists, made first-time grants of $12,000. Donor advisors added $51,300.
