March on Hunger
Aspen, Chamisa and Mountain elementaries, along with Los Alamos Middle School, are collecting non-perishable items for people and collars and leashes for pets as a community project and a student service project combine their efforts. To learn more about making donations call 661-4846. Donations are accepted at school locations through Friday. The Los Alamos Monitor, KRSN AM 1490 and the Betty Ehart Senior Center continue the March on Hunger through the end of the month.

A day in the life
of a teen
The Juvenile Justice Advisory Board and the Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a Chamber Coffee at 9 a.m. April 7 at the Best Western Hilltop House Hotel. The event will host an Assets In Action edition of Walk A Mile in Their Shoes, a Day in the Life of a Teen. The program will take business leaders through an interesting exercise related to today’s teens and provide opportunities to promote businesses while building relationships and engaging them in new and exciting ways this summer. RSVPs are helpful, but not needed and can be left at 661-4846.

Blue Star Mothers
need photos
Blue Star Mothers is seeking photos of area military men and women serving in the armed forces.  Photos will be displayed on the organization’s  “Wall of Heroes.”  This traveling case is displayed at fundraisers and community events. Crewmen and families sought for reunion
The USS Clinton Crewman’s Reunion Association is looking for crewmen and families for the 18th annual reunion in Florida Oct. 10-14. For reunion information, contact Reunion Coordinator Duncan E. Singers wanted
 Do you like to sing? Join the Choral Society, a non-auditioned chorus for all ages in Los Alamos. For their spring concert, they will sing love songs, some Brahms, favorites from the Beatles and some spirituals. Rehearsals are Tuesdays from 7-9 p.m. at the United Church, 2525 Canyon Road. The concerts will be at 3 p.m. May 22 in Los Alamos and 1 p.m. May 30 in the town of Cochiti Lake. Their first rehearsal is Feb. 8. Call Chuck, 662-9127, or Wendy, 231-0162, for details.

Habitat not accepting applications
Habitat for Humanity’s Building Kindness program is currently not accepting applications.
Upon completion of the current home repair projects, applications will again be given and received.
It is Habitat’s policy to not keep a waiting list, so they must open and close the process as appropriate.
They look forward to completing affordable home repairs in our community. Volunteers are needed. Contact the Building Kindness Administrator for more information at 505-747-2690.
