The Classic FC Red Star boys club soccer team, based in Albuquerque, won the 2008 Spring Far West Regional League title last weekend.The U17 Red Star squad, which includes Los Alamos Hilltopper athletes Will Schoonover and Jason Reagor, won two of three games in the regional final round, played at San Juan Capistrano, Calif.At the regional event, Red Star opened with a 2-2 deadlock against OSC Rage (Anaheim, Calif.). Red Star then knocked off Sereno (Ariz.) 91 White, 2-1, and followed that win up by pasting the Oxnard (Calif.) FC Premier 9-0.Red Star finished with seven points in the tournament, while runner-up OSC Rage finished with five points.The win at the tournament qualified Red Star to the U.S. Youth Soccer Region IV Championships, which will be played in Honolulu June 16-22.
