Carol A. Clark has been promoted to managing editor of the Los Alamos Monitor.
"This promotion reflects the expanded responsibilities Carol has taken on at the Monitor," Publisher Ralph Damiani said. "Her strong news sense and leadership abilities will be an asset in her new role here at the paper."
She has worked at the Monitor for more than five years, first as a staff reporter covering crime and education and most recently as senior reporter/county editor, expanding her coverage to include local, state and national politics, homeland security and breaking news.
Clark serves as an election night stringer for the Associated Press, a position she has held for five years and also conducts election-day exit surveys for Edison Media Research. She copy edits the ShopTalk newsletter for the New Mexico Press Association. This year she became a certified Skywarn Weather Spotter for the National Weather Service.
Clark is an award winning writer who holds a specialization certificate in print media from the University of California at Los Angeles. She is president of the New Mexico Press Women's Association and serves on the national election committee for the National Federation of Press Women. She also produces and hosts Behind the White Coat: Conversations with Los Alamos Scientists, which airs on PAC 8 and UCTV.
