The county’s Capital Improvement Projects Evaluation and Oversight Committee will hold the first of seven public hearings on Phase 1 applications beginning at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday in Council Chambers. Applications on the agenda include:
• Ashley Pond Improvements - Proposal to study potential Improvements to ADA accessibility, pond bulkhead, pathway around pond, water quality and circulation, signage, lighting, concert venue, landscape buffers, riparian planting and other features.
• Community Building – Proposal to study potential future use of the Community Building.
• Anaerobic Digestion of Horse Manure – Proposal to study various known approaches of producing methane (natural gas) and pathogen/seed free fertilizer, both liquid and solid, from the tons of horse manure produced at the North Mesa Stables area each year.
The end result will be the recommendation to purchase equipment to implement a methane/fertilizer production unit, which will produce salable methane and/or electricity and fertilizer.
