Over the years, there have been a number of Christian rock bands that have graced New Mexico stages.
One of them will be in Los Alamos County next week.
The White Rock Baptist Church will host a concert by Christian Rock band Everfound.
Youth Pastor Jesse Mark said he has made it part of his ministry to get kids and their families listening to positive music. He has been working with middle school and high school students for five years.
The “Welcome Back to School” music evening encourages youth and their parents to enjoy music together. The show starts at 6 p.m. Sept. 6, however the community is urged to come early and take part in other activities available, including tailgating, games and gift card giveaways from local sponsors (Morning Glory Bakery, Smith’s, Daniel’s Café and CB Fox, among others).
Mark said many of the area churches will also be involved in the festivities to offer a true community feel to the event.
WRBC hosts a spring concert every year and with almost an entire year of effort, Everfound was booked after a myriad of agents. “This could possibly bring in several hundred people or more into town on a Saturday night,” event promoter and church member Phil Jacobson said. He said that he and Mark are working to get more Christian rock bands to Los Alamos, which will benefit the businesses in the community. “Jesse has brought some incredible life to the young people both in our church and the broader Los Alamos community. He has a passion for music,” Jacobson said.
“Music has influence on our attitude,” Mark said. “This music has a high quality message of love, hope and acceptance.”
Everfound is a group four of brothers originally from Russia. They immigrated to Denver as young children to escape religious prosecution. According to their bio, their family member’s commitment to faith resulted in hardships that now serve as inspiration. Their great-uncle spent 20 years in prison for owning a Bible, while their father told stories of his youth group being harassed and chased by police dogs after being discovered hiding in the forest for weekly Bible studies.
“We want to take (our fans) on a journey with us. At a show, we want our fans to feel and experience the low valleys and the high peaks that inspired our songs in the first place,” Lead singer and keyboardist Nikita Odnoralov said in a press release.
Their latest album “Never Beyond Repair is on sale now. Yan Odnoralov, Ruslan Odnoralov, Ernest Minayev and Illarion Odnoralov round out the band.
Mark and Jacobson teamed up last year to find a band and Mark contacted Everfound’s booking agent. Jacobson and his 15-year-old daughter Kaela previously saw Everfound in concert while at a Christian music festival in Seattle. The band will be kicking off the Take This City Tour in Los Alamos. Kaela Jacobson said in an emailed statement. “A Russian immigrant band here in our formerly-secret town of Los Alamos.”
“There is somewhat of a poetic theme,” Mark said. “since the brothers escaped from communist Russia.”
Everfound is nationally acclaimed having toured the last couple years with Newsboys, Red, TobyMac, Lecrae, and many others. They sing a great message of encouragement, full of passion for the Lord and what they do.
