The Los Alamos Police Department has added two new Ford F-150 trucks to the fleet as patrol vehicles. The 2013 crew cab trucks allow for hauling items that would not normally fit in sport utility vehicles or sedans. These vehicles also have the capability of towing department utility trailers to scenes or special events.
Commander Preston Ballew stated, “The Ford F-150 truck will allow us to safely traverse through difficult and remote terrain, while providing an economical solution to fit our fleet needs. The trucks provide us everything our current vehicles do and more and are within a few hundred dollars of existing fleet vehicles. We also anticipate comparable fuel and maintenance expenses if not a little better given the Ford eco-boost engine. We will continue to evaluate our fleet needs and how we can maximize the benefit to the taxpayer while ensuring our ability to respond safely and effectively to better serve the public.”
