During its meeting Tuesday evening, the Los Alamos County Council re-affirmed its commitment to continue review of the County Charter, and moved to continue the Charter Review Committee appointed by the previous council in November 2009.
Council also directed county staff to advertise for two additional committee members needed to replace former members Debbie Gill and Robert Pelak.
Applicants wishing to be considered for appointment to the committee are asked to send a one or two-page letter to the council with their name, address, phone number and e-mail address, along with their employer, if applicable, and any civic organizations they belong to. In addition, they are asked to submit information about why they would like to serve on the committee.
The council plan is to appoint the new members at the March 1 council meeting. Applicants may be asked to attend that meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. in council chambers, at the Community Building. This item will be considered under “Council Business” and “Appointments”.

Applicants are encouraged to review the work of the committee and its four subcommittees to date. Letters may be e-mailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or mailed or hand-carried to the county administrator’s office at 133 Central Park Square. The deadline for letters of interest is 5 p.m. Feb. 22.
