The League of Women Voters will have a different format for their March 8 luncheon. The event will be on Tuesday not Thursday this month and will meet at the Justice Center, not Central Avenue Grill.
Judge Pat Casados will welcome people for a private tour of the Justice Center. This will include a tour of the courthouse and a description of the magistrate court, as well as the position of magistrate judge.
Lunch will follow after the tour at the Justice Center.
Casados, who is also a League member, is a native New Mexican from Eastern New Mexico. She is a 40-year resident of Los Alamos who moved here after marrying her husband.
Casados has been the magistrate judge in Los Alamos for the last eight years and was elected to her third term last November. She is the secretary/treasurer of the Board of the Magistrate Judges Association.
Last year she served as a member of the training staff for new judges. This was an intensive two-week training class for the newly elected judges in New Mexico.
Currently, Casados is working with the Magistrate Board, lobbying in Santa Fe for bills that will enhance the system.
Ruby K’s will cater the luncheon.
There is a choice of four menu sandwich items (from veggie to turkey).
The cost of a sandwich, pickle, chips and a cookie, including tax and gratuity is $12. Water will be provided.
Those who wish to have lunch with the tour, RSVPs must be made to kaska
email@example.com or call Karyl Ann Armbruster at 661-6605 as there will only be food for those that pre-order.
No other food will be available at the Justice Center. More information about lunch choices will be shared when RSVPing.
The community is invited to the tour/luncheon at 11:45 a.m. March 8. RSVP’s must be made by March 7. The public is welcome to attend, even if lunch is not ordered.
