Flavor Flav opens his first
chicken eatery in Iowa
CLINTON, Iowa — Rapper and reality TV star Flavor Flav is bringing the flavor of chicken to Iowa.
Flav’s Fried Chicken opens Monday in Clinton, Iowa. Flav has been there preparing for the launch and told the Clinton Herald he’ll visit often for promotions and even work the fryer.
Flav says it’s the first in a chain that stemmed from the 99 cent wings he served at Mama Cimino in Las Vegas. His business partner is the brother of that restaurant’s owner.
Flavor Flav, whose real name William Drayton Jr., founded hip-hop group Public Enemy in the ‘80s. He has a culinary degree and restaurant experience.
Motley Crue singer due to plead
in Vegas DUI case
LAS VEGAS — Motley Crue singer Vince Neil is heading to court on a plea deal that gets him two weeks of jail time, plus two weeks of house arrest for driving drunk last summer near the Las Vegas Strip.
Neil is due to plead guilty yesterday morning before a Las Vegas justice of the peace to misdemeanor driving under the influence.
He’s expected to begin serving his sentence Feb. 15, a week after his 50th birthday.
Neil’s lawyer says Neil is taking responsibility for his actions.
Police say Neil was stopped in his black Lamborghini last summer after leaving the Las Vegas Hilton, where he owns a bar.
Jersey Shore’ headed to Italy
for fourth season
LOS ANGELES — “Jersey Shore” is headed to the Motherland.
The popular MTV reality TV series starring a group of hard-partying Italian-Americans will film its fourth season in Italy, the network said Tuesday.
“While the stateside ‘Jersey Shore’ locales have become iconic for our audience, it’s really the constantly evolving dynamic amongst the cast that keeps them coming back each season,” MTV programming vice president Chris Linn said. “Europe is a fresh spin on a show that continues to reach new heights for us.”
The ongoing third season, filmed last summer, features the ongoing feud between Jenni “J-Woww” Farley and Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola, as well as the introduction of new cast member Deena Nicole Cortese, the wild “partner in crime” of Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi.
The cast also includes Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino.
Paul Bettany regrets passing
on ‘King’s Speech’
PARK CITY, Utah — British actor Paul Bettany regrets not taking Colin Firth’s Oscar-nominated role in “The King’s Speech.”
Screenwriter David Seidler has said he wrote the screenplay — also nominated — with Bettany in mind for the role of King George VI, with Oscar-nominated Geoffrey Rush as his speech therapist.
In an interview at the Sundance Film Festival on Tuesday, shortly after it was announced that the film had received 12 Oscar nominations, Bettany explained what he regrets most about not accepting the role:
“Number one, of course, it is a regret not to be working with such great, and really great people, Geoffrey Rush and (director) Tom Hooper.
“I think it is a little inelegant for me to discuss it,” continued Bettany. “I had been working for five months steadily and my son missed me and I missed my son. Both of my sons and my wife,” explained the actor, referring to his work on “The Tourist” as Inspector John Acheson. Bettany is married to actress Jennifer Connelly and they have two sons together.
