Aretha Franklin says her health is ‘superb’

DETROIT — A month after surgery in Detroit for an undisclosed ailment, Aretha Franklin says her health is “superb.”
Franklin called in to Wednesday’s installment of “The Wendy Williams Show,” telling the host she was relaxing at a casino hotel in her hometown and hopes to begin traveling soon, saying she’ll be “looking for a fabulous beach.” She says she has two more weeks of down time as she continues her recovery.
The legendary singer also vowed to reschedule the concert dates she missed.
Franklin’s voice was strong and steady during the interview, and she hinted she was dating someone.
With the exception of written statements and print interviews with Jet magazine, this was one of the first times the 68-year-old Franklin has been heard since the Dec. 2 surgery.

‘Green Hornet’ actor Eddie Furlong arrested

LOS ANGELES — Prosecutors say “Green Hornet” and “Terminator 2” star Eddie Furlong has been arrested in Los Angeles for violating a court order to stay 100 yards away from his estranged wife.
City attorney’s office spokesman Frank Mateljan says the 33-year-old actor was in court Tuesday for a hearing on the three-year restraining order obtained by Rachael Kneeland when the judge ordered his arrest. He was released on $75,000 bond about three hours later.
People magazine was first to report the arrest, which came a day after the premiere of “Green Hornet.” The movie is in theaters Friday.
Kneeland and Furlong, the parents of a 4-year-old son, are involved in divorce proceedings.
Prosecutors say Furlong pleaded no contest in November to violating the court’s order, and a progress hearing Tuesday determined he violated probation terms several weeks later.

Snooki says she’s ready to go back to being Nicole

NEW YORK — Nicole Polizzi is a little over herself. Well, not herself, but her nickname: Snooki.
The “Jersey Shore” star says that the moniker that helped make her famous has gotten a little old.
“I miss my real name. I miss people calling me Nicole,” she said.
The 23-year-old’s full name and nickname appear on the cover of her novel “A Shore Thing.”
It’s about a young woman named Gia and her cousin Isabella who go to the shore with the hopes of having the best summer ever. Snooki said their bond is based on her real-life relationship with co-star Jenni Farley, aka J Woww.
The Jan. 6 episode of “Jersey Shore” set a record for MTV attracting 8.45 million viewers. It was MTV’s most watched show ever.
Last month, MTV confirmed cast member Paul “DJ Pauly D” DelVecchio would be getting his own spinoff.
As for rumors Snooki will follow suit with her own show, she said she’s open to the possibility.
“There hasn’t been any talk. ... Of course if the opportunity is given to me, I’m gonna run with it,” she said.
