The Central Labor Council put on a big Labor Day party in Santa Fe to celebrate the contributions labor made to America. Labor unions claim they are responsible for creating a middle class. Labor also got vacation and sick days, established the 40-hour work week, abolished child labor and made safe working conditions. More than 300-400 people came to the events. The Salt of the Earth sang songs, poetry was read, kids enjoyed face painting, games with prizes and jumping air structures. The event was on Taos street behind some of the union offices.
