There’s only one way to be 10 years old and celebrate being a senior citizen; help the Betty Ehart Senior Center honor its anniversary. The Betty Ehart Senior Center celebrates its 10th anniversary from 1-4 p.m. Saturday.
“Sample the Senior Center” is an event created to entice some new faces to come out and sample figuratively and literally the many offerings of the BESC.
“We are so grateful to the county for stepping up with not only dollars to support this celebration but also staff/director time to help with planning, printing and a commemorative beautification project,” said Pauline Powell Schneider, director of the Los Alamos Retired and Senior Organization, which operates both the Los Alamos and White Rock senior centers.
Schneider and her planning committee planned a variety of ways to sample the senior center, including tasty treats from chefs Fred Ortiz and Michael Mason. The culinary crew will prepare an assortment of finger foods for guests to sample.
The center also offers a variety of yoga programs that will be highlighted from 1:30- 3 p.m. on Saturday. Noor Singh Khalsa, a full-time Los Alamos National Laboratory employee, teaches the ancient science of Kundalini.
