The county’s Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) Evaluation and Oversight Committee will hold the next set of public hearings on Phase 1 applications at 5:15 p.m. today at council chambers in Los Alamos and from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at White Rock Town Hall.
Today, the projects that will be discussed are the Los Alamos County Ice Rink cover as well as the signage-arts and cultural district, which involves a study of existing signage within the Arts and Cultural District and propose improvements to create a common look and feel, and to allow visitors to more easily locate attractions within the district.
Wednesday, the public is invited to discuss the White Rock Civic Center Complex, which includes a study for siting, design and construction of a new White Rock library, senior center, youth center and town hall.
Each applicant will give a brief presentation on their project, followed by questions from the Committee and then the floor will be open for public comment.
The public is welcome and encouraged to attend and give the Committee their feed back for or against any project being proposed.
Those unable to attend meetings may e-mail comments for the committee to Gary Leikness in the Community Development Department at email@example.com before today’s meeting.
The committee includes five county staff members and five citizen members.
The five citizens are Don Brown, Terry Goldman, Carl Thornton, Dave Schiferl and Denise Lane. After all public hearings are completed, the Committee will score and rank all applications at 5:30- p.m. Nov. 18 in council chambers.
Recommendations are issued in a final report that is sent to the County Administrator at the end of November, and then the Administrator forwards any additional comments or recommendations to council for their consideration and possible funding for Phase 1 studies to begin. The council meeting to consider the applications will occur at 7 p.m. Dec. 7 in council chambers.
