Steven Calhoun, a 15-year-old sophomore at Los Alamos High School, and son of Michael and Sharon Calhoun, completed his Eagle Board of Review on April 22 and was formally awarded the Eagle Scout rank at a Court of Honor held at Fuller Lodge on June 10. Calhoun is a member of Boy Scout Troop 22, chartered by the Knights of Columbus Council #3137. Established in October 1918, Troop 22 is the third-oldest continuously chartered troop in the United States.
Calhoun entered scouting as a cub scout in Pack 229 in 2004, earned his Arrow of Light in March 2008, and joined Troop 22 immediately afterwards.
In Troop 22, Calhoun’s positions of responsibility have included being patrol leader twice; assistant senior patrol leader and troop guide. Calhoun’s summer camp adventures included trips to Gorham Scout Ranch (formerly Camp Frank Rand), Camp Dobbins in Colorado, Camp Alexander in Colorado and Camp Geronimo in Arizona. In addition to summer camps, Calhoun participated in many Troop 22 adventures including white water canoeing and kayaking trips, fourteener backpacking trips, Wheeler Peak backpacking trips, skiing trips, caving trips and turkey roasts.
