Football: Whittemore returns pick for TD, Ortiz has 4 sacks

By The Staff

The Los Alamos Hilltopper C team football squad picked up its second win in a row, routing the Hope Christian Huskies.
Los Alamos’ defense keyed the big win Monday at Sullivan Field.
Hilltopper Sam Ortiz had four sacks on the contest and Ricky Whittemore had a pick-six as Los Alamos cruised to a 32-0 victory.
“(The) coaching staff believed that our team was improving, which was clear as day (Monday),” Los Alamos C team coach Marco Lucero said. “We feel that the elimination of mistakes, big hits, causing and recovering turnovers was what was more impressive than the win or the final score.”
Along with Whittemore’s interception return for a touchdown, Wesley Skidmore rushed for a pair of touchdowns Monday. Also scoring for the Hilltoppers was Tyler Thorn, who scored from 50 yards out.
Los Alamos will take on Bernalillo’s C team next Monday.
