DAVIS – Burt Kenneth Davis, 59, a resident of Los Alamos, passed away Monday, June 9, 2008, at Sombrillo Nursing Center. Burt was born Jan. 9, 1949, in Kansas City, Mo. He grew up there and was active in the Boy Scouts, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. He earned a degree in mechanical engineering from Finley Engineering College in Kansas City and after graduation began working for the Bendix Corporation there. In 1976, he transferred to the Los Alamos National Laboratory, where he worked until his retirement in 2006.
Burt was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Frances Davis and his only brother Fred L. Davis. He is survived by his sister-in-law Barbara L. Davis of Kansas City, Barbara’s daughter Debbie Davis of Kansas City and Debbie’s son Jacob; stepsons Shawn and Chris DeGasperi, sons of his late wife Kathleen D. Davis; and by numerous cousins.
Burt loved the mountains and enjoyed hiking. He also enjoyed traveling. He recently built a retirement home in Springfield, Mo., to be near the Lake of the Ozarks.
Burt was a member of the United Church of Los Alamos and served on the board of trustees. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 16, at the United Church, 2525 Canyon Road, Los Alamos. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
