Fence going up todayToday, a contractor for Los Alamos County will begin constructing a six-foot tall chain link fence around the perimeter of the Municipal Building next to Ashley Pond.The construction comes a week after council made the decision to move forward with recommendations from the county’s consultant to fence the building for safety reasons.The fence will be placed approximately 12.5 feet out from the roofline of the building and will be pole mounted with sandbags for anchoring and support.The post office mailbox currently located on the west side of the building will be removed.Construction impacts for the public are expected to be very minimal. Nevertheless, motorists using the west parking lot are urged to use caution and avoid work zones as posted.The fence should be finished by the end of today.Turn your lights offIt’s time for the annual farolito displays in various county neighborhoods.
