The owner of a home at 123 Monte Vista in White Rock smelled something burning. He called the Los Alamos Fire Department at 4:45 p.m., about 10 minutes ago, after seeing smoke coming from his bedroom.

LAFD Capt. Sean Wisecarver and his crew from Fire Station 3 are on scene at this moment and have the situation under control.

"They've got the fire contained in the bedroom where they encountered a smoldering bed," Assistant Fire Chief/Fire Marshall Mike Thompson said. "The origin appears to be a heat lamp. There weren't really any flames and the smoke appears to be minimal."

The crew is expected to begin mop up operations shortly, Thompson said.

This is the second fire call today. The first occurred this morning in the La Mesa Mobile Home Park.
