The Los Alamos Hilltopper boys track and field team earned a crushing victory at Saturday’s Bernalillo Invitational
The Hilltopper boys grabbed 155.5 points, nearly as many as the next three teams put together. They finished 99-1/2 points ahead of runner-up Santa Fe to earn the victory in Bernalillo.
Sean Reardon, who has had a strong start to the season, earned one the Hilltoppers’ first two state qualification marks of the 2012 season. Reardon won the 1,600 meter race posting a time of 4 minutes, 32.31 seconds, nearly six seconds underneath 4A qualification.
Also picking up a state mark Saturday was David Stroud in the long jump. He needed almost all of his leap of 20 feet, 6 inches to hold off Chris Ryan for the event win as Ryan went 20-4 for second place.
In all, Los Alamos earned eight event wins Saturday and went 1-2 in the long jump, pole vault (Carson Weins and Ryan), triple jump (Jacob Brown and Stroud) and 3,200 meters (Nick Hill and Colin Hemez).
