The Los Alamos Hilltopper boys soccer team was a big winner at home Thursday.

Los Alamos crushed Moriarty’s Pintos in a nondistrict game Thursday at Sullivan Field, 10-0.

Thursday’s game was Los Alamos’ seventh straight victory as well as its fourth shutout victory of the season. The Pintos (1-11) haven’t won a game since their season opener over Española Valley.

The win over the Pintos is the first of two home nondistrict contests. The second will be played at 4 p.m. today against the Piedra Vista Panthers.

Piedra Vista may be the team to beat from District 1AAAA this season, having posted a record of 12-2 heading into today’s contest.

The Panthers have the leading point-scorer in Class AAAA, Pablo Quintana, on their roster. Quintana has 22 goals and 11 assists to his credit this season, 11 more total points than No. 2 scorer Oscar Vela of Roswell.

Los Alamos’ offense, however, has been on a roll during this winning streak, scoring 41 goals in that period.

The Hilltoppers (9-3) and the Panthers are currently the second- and third-ranked clubs in AAAA, according to NMSoccer.com’s current coaches poll.
