A solid victory by the Los Alamos Hilltopper boys soccer team keeps it right on track for what could shape up as the biggest game of its 2010 regular season.
The Hilltoppers got six goals from six different players to drop the Santa Fe Demons 6-0 Tuesday at Ivan Head Stadium. The win keeps the Hilltoppers undefeated in District 2AAAA play and primed for a showdown with the Capital Jaguars in the Hilltoppers’ season finale next week.
Los Alamos head coach Evan Gartz said his team attacked the Demons exactly the way it needed to in order to score the victory and keep atop the 2AAAA standings.
“We knew we had to be patient,” he said. “We’d knew they’d tried to play strong against us and overload the box. But we were patient in the game. We passed around, we worked the whole field and we were able to continue that all game.”
Andy Thoma, Los Alamos’ leading scorer, put the Hilltoppers on the board early.
Following that goal, David Wyman, Paul Hemez, Chase Havemann Nicholas Castaño and Alper Unal all added tallies to give the Hilltoppers the win going away.
