The Los Alamos Hilltopper boys golf team finished third in team competition at the Belen Invitational Thursday.
Thursday’s competition was a make-up round from March 21. That round was called due to high winds and dusty conditions. Play was called after most players had finished approximately 12 holes.
Los Alamos finished with a team score of 384, one of just three teams to break 400.
The tournament was won by the host Belen Eagles.
The Eagles, paced by Daniel Goldberg’s round of 1-under par, finished with a red hot 334, easily outdistancing second-place Socorro’s 362.
For the Hilltoppers, Thomas Herrera had the low round of the day, finishing with an 83.
Herrera placed third in the individual competition Thursday.
Tim Branch also cracked the top 10 for Los Alamos. His round of 91 was good enough for sixth place overall.
Also for Los Alamos, Jin Park finished with a 100, Jonnie Osden a 109 and Tanner Vaughn shot a 120.
Los Alamos will compete at the Capital City Invitational Monday in Santa Fe.
