The Los Alamos Hilltopper boys golf team finished off its 2010 fall golf season with a fourth-place finish at the Capital Invitational Monday.
Los Alamos finished with a team score of 366, which placed them in the middle of the eight-team field at Santa Fe Country Club.
The tournament was won by the St. Michael’s Horsemen, who shot a 324.
Los Alamos’ boys were led by senior Thomas Herrera, who finished Monday’s tournament with a score of 84. Herrera had a solid fall 2010 season, qualifying for the Class AAAA championship tournament as an individual.
Also at the Capital tournament, Woody Moss finished with a score of 89. Tim Branch had a 92, while eighth-grader Jonnie Osden shot a 101 and Dillon Alexander had a 102.
As a team, Los Alamos didn’t pick up any qualifying legs for the state tournament and now must grab three during the spring 2011 season to make the state championship. This golf season, a victory at the District 2AAAA championship tournament, or any other district tournament, will not automatically qualify the winner.
