The Los Alamos Hilltopper boys golf team finished eighth out of 16 squads at Monday’s West Mesa Invitational.
Monday’s tournament was played at Ladera Golf Course in Albuquerque.
The Hilltoppers finished with a team score of 356.
La Cueva’s Bears won Monday’s tournament with a score of 289. Albuquerque Academy finished second with a 295.
Academy’s Chargers had won 13 straight prep tournaments until they were beaten by the Bears.
Los Alamos was paced by Thomas Herrera, who shot an 83 Monday. Evan Black finished second among the Hilltoppers with an 86.
Also Monday, Tim Branch had a 92, Woody Moss shot a 95 and Henry Stam finished with a 98.
Los Alamos plays its third tournament of the fall Monday when it goes to the St. Michael’s Invitational. That tournament will be played at the Santa Fe Country Club.
The Hilltoppers finished seventh at their home invitational last week, shooting a 355.
