The Los Alamos Hilltopper boys golf team took third in a nine-team field at Monday’s tournament in Santa Fe.
The Hilltoppers played at the St. Michael’s Invitational Monday, which took place at the Santa Fe Country Club. They finished with a team score of 363 shots.
The host St. Michael’s Horsemen won Monday’s event with a team score of 307, easily outdistancing second-place Mesilla Valley Christian, which posted a 335.
Los Alamos is still seeking its first leg of the season with just one fall tournament remaining. It did get some good news Monday, however, as it topped its District 2AAAA foe Bernalillo. Bernalillo finished fifth with a score of 379.
Thomas Herrera led the team for the second-straight week with his round of 83. Herrera was followed by Evan Black’s 89.
Also playing for Los Alamos Monday were Woody Moss, who finished with a 93, Tim Branch, who finished with a 98, and Garrett Idler, who carded a 101.
The Hilltoppers will wrap up their fall season at the two-day Kirtland Central Invitational, which will be held Monday and Tuesday at Farmington’s Riverview Golf Course.
