The Los Alamos Hilltopper boys basketball team picked up a victory Wednesday afternoon over the Taos Tigers to take fifth place at the Ben Lujan Invitational.
Los Alamos, which led most of the way Wednesday at Ben Lujan Gymnasium, found itself trailing 28-27 after three quarters, but outscored Taos 21-11 in the final period to pick up a 48-39 victory.
Following an opening-round loss to the host Pojoaque Elks, the Hilltoppers (3-8) bounced back to pick up wins Tuesday over Penasco and Wednesday against Taos, a former district rival.
Thomas Russell and Nick Baker both finished with 11 points, while Travis Richins, who was named to the All-Tournament Team, picked up 10 points.
