The Los Alamos Hilltopper boys basketball team hung with one of the top teams in the state through one half of play, but a rough third quarter sunk the team’s upset efforts.
Los Alamos played even with the Española Valley Sundevils through one quarter and was down just 23-15 at the break, but managed just six points in the third as Española Valley took control. Española Valley went on to win Tuesday’s ballgame 49-35 in front of a sizeable crowd at Griffith Gymnasium.
Nick Baker had 14 points for Los Alamos, but it wasn’t enough to overcome a 17-point deficit midway through the third quarter.
