For this upcoming fundraiser, no formal attire or physical training is required; in fact, all that is needed to participate in the United Way of Northern New Mexico’s People Matter Bowling Event is some bowling shoes and a $30 donation.
With these few requirements, participants can bowl from 6-9 p.m. Sept. 27 in the Big Rock Bowling Center in Espaola.
In addition to helping out United Way in the current campaign to raise funds for its 18 agencies, people will also be awarded door prizes, giveaways and prizes for the highest and lowest scores.
“It’s a good cause and all the proceeds go to United Way,” said Marketing Director Carla Gray Weiser.
Donations are $30 per person or $150 donation per team, which includes a maximum of five bowlers.
Sponsorships are available. Businesses can be a major corporate sponsor for $2,500, a strike sponsor for $1,000, a spare sponsor for $500 or a lane sponsor for $100.
Last year, Weiser said 10 teams showed up to play, and the goal is to double the participation this year.
She encourages people sign up because “the United Way People Matter Bowling Event is a family fun activity that promotes giving. With a simple donation of $30 per bowler, families, friends or co-workers can enjoy an evening at Big Rock Bowling Center.”
