Blue Star Mothers need donations

Blue Star mothers of America Inc. is a national veterans’ organization  which supports the men and women serving in all branches of the United States armed forces and their families.
BSM is a federally chartered, non-profit 501(c)3, non-partisan, non-religious charity which promotes patriotism and support for the military and military families.
Blue Star Mothers Chapter 4 meetings are held at 6 p.m. every second Thursday of the month at McCurdy school student center conference room, in Española.
BSM has supported veterans in the past year by hosting a Christmas party in December for local Veterans and distributing 25 gift bags to say thank you for their service.
They joined several other veterans organizations and visited the Veterans at the VA hospital in Albuquerque on Feb.19, where T-shirts, blankets and Valentine’s day cards were distributed.
The following activitiy  is  scheduled for the month of June:
 • 9 a.m. Saturday: Packing party at McCracken gym at McCurdy school, They mail out 50 boxes of comfort items to local troops serving in Afghanistan, the Asian Pacific, other areas overseas and stateside.
Donations of the following items are being accepted at Española Public Library, Curves, and Baja Broadband(US cable): Hand sanitizers, Q-tips, beef jerky/Slim Jims, granola/protein bars, individually wrapped candies(no chocolate; tuna pouches, Cup-o-Soup, flip-top canned foods (green chile, ravioli), razors and full-size bar soap.
