Engineering News-Record (ENR) Southwest announced that the New Mexico Consortium’s new Biological Laboratory and Greenhouse in Los Alamos is one of the Merit Award winners of the prestigious Best Projects Award for 2013.
The Best Projects Awards are a series of special events to celebrate and honor the building teams that created the best projects of 2013 nationwide.
These projects are selected by juries of local prominent industry professionals.
The NMC Biological Laboratory and Greenhouse, submitted by Studio Southwest Architects, was awarded the Award of Merit in the category of Higher Education/Research.
There were more than 90 projects in19 categories entered by owners, contractors, architects and others in the ENR Southwest 2013 Best Projects contest. The process included each juror independently reviewing the projects assigned to him or her via a web-based judging portal. After that work was complete, the judges met to determine the winners last week.
The NMC’s 27,000 square foot facility supports collaborative research in food security, biomedical technology and biofuels.
All of the winning projects will be highlighted in the upcoming November issue of ENR Southwest. One project will also be named overall Best Project for 2013.
