In celebration of the summer season, Ski Pajarito is hosting its ninth annual Summerfest, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday featuring live music, New Mexico Brewer’s Fest, and Pajarito Punishment Downhill Bike Race, among other activities for the whole family.
“Summerfest at Pajarito Mountain is a community festival worth sharing,” said Summerfest promoter Thad Hahn. “It highlights what is so fantastic about summers on the mountain — from the beer and bands, hiking, biking to music and family fun.”
Located in the Jemez Mountains, Pajarito Mountain will offer scenic chair lifts to the top of the mountain during Summerfest.
Festival goers can hike or bike down a number of trails, ranging from easy to most difficult/expert. Lift tickets are only $10 for hiking and $25 for mountain biking.
For competitive bicyclists, the Pajarito Punishment Downhill Bike Race will begin at 1 p.m., where racers will careen down the mountain at top speed.
Bicyclists and festival goers can cool off from 1-6 p.m. and relax with a microbrew from one of 17 participating local and regional breweries including Santa Fe Brewing Company, Marble Brewery, La Cumbre, Taos Mesa, Blue Heron, and more during New Mexico Brewer’s Fest. Both a winery and cider distillery will offer samples as well. Tickets are $20 (cash only), which includes beer samples, one filled pint and koozie.
From 2-6 p.m., live music by Nosotros will add Latin flavor to the event with flamenco, jazz, salsa and rock inspired rhythms.
Along with live music, bike race, and brews, Summerfest also has disc golf and a children’s area with a 61-foot obstacle course and separate jumper for younger children.
Between 1-5 p.m., Pajarito Mountain Cafe will be serving up burgers and New Mexican food.
Shuttle bus service from Los Alamos High School’s Sullivan Field will be available at no charge from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., courtesy of the Atomic City Transit. Buses depart every half hour. For more information about Summerfest, visit skipajarito.com or facebook.com/PajaritoMountainFestivals?ref=hl.
