Rynd – Betty Virginia Snyder Rynd passed away peacefully June 3, 2008, at her home in Albuquerque at the age of 90. Betty was born in Pittsburgh, Penn., on April 26, 1918 to Essie and Charles Snyder. She grew up in Meadville, Penn., with her Uncle John and Aunt Anna Briggs, whom she called “the Briggsies.” Betty attended Allegheny College and obtained a bachelor’s degree. Betty and Edgar “Eddie” Rynd were married July 26, 1940, and were married for 58 years, until Edgar’s passing in 1998. Edgar and Betty were true loves, and Betty believed that Edgar watched over her like a guardian angel. Together they lived and worked in Los Alamos when Los Alamos National Laboratory was first created, and became an important part of the community.
Betty was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Graveside services will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, June 6, at Guaje Pines Cemetery in Los Alamos.
