WHITE – Bess White, age 89, passed away Friday, April 4, 2008, at her home in Los Alamos, in the presence of her family. She was born in Carrizo Springs, Texas, Oct. 27, 1918. She married her beloved husband Pete White, in Karnes, Texas, April 24, 1939. At the time of his passing in 2003 they had been married 65 wonderful years. During her high school years at Carrizo Springs, Texas, she won the state Doubles Tennis Championship, was a Wildcat cheerleader and served as an Alumni Homecoming Queen at Carrizo Springs High School. She was very proud of her family heritage as a part of the “First 300” settlers in Texas and was a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. She was a direct descendent of one of the defenders of the Alamo and also a descendent of one of the founders of The Texas Rangers. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Los Alamos. She and Pete were great supporters of youth activities and sports events.
