Que Pasa Singles Club will host an investors' get-together today. This is not a class or lecture, but a chance for those interested in investing to share ideas and information.  Contact:  662-3127.

 

The Desert Sage Weavers will host a fiber arts show from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. today at Morning Glory Bakery, 1377 Diamond Drive, across from Los Alamos High School.

 

The Pool Pumpkin Splash will be held from 2-4 p.m. today at the Larry R. Walkup Aquatic Center.  Tickets are $5. 662-8170.

 

Los Alamos Community Winds will kick off its 2007-2008 season with a concert at 2 p.m. today in the Betty Ehart Senior Center.  The concert will feature music by composer Antonin Dvorák. Admission is free, but a $5 donation is requested.

 

PEEC will host a performance lecture, "The Dark Side of Plants," presented by Thomas Antonio and Carol Johnson of the New Mexico Native Plant Society. The talk begins at 7 p.m. today at the PEEC.

Piñon Elementary School will host a Scholastic Book Fair from 7:45 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday. The book fair will raise money to purchase books for the library. Families, teachers and the community are invited to attend the fair. The theme of the fair is an arctic theme: Book Fair Blizzard.

 

TUESDAY

 

Los Alamos High School Ballroom Dance Club and teacher Natasha Barkhudarova will offer ballroom classes to the public. No partner is required. The class will be held from 7-8 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. The cost is $40, $20 for students or $5 for students per class. Robert Harling's play, "Steel Magnolias," will be performed by the Olions, the Los Alamos High School drama club, at 7 p.m. Friday at Duane Smith Auditorium. Tickets cost $10 for general admission, $5 for seniors and students and $7 for thespian club cardholders.

 

A reception for "A Moment Captured in Time: Photography," the new exhibit at the Art Center at Fuller Lodge, will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday.

 

Los Alamos Little Theater presents "The Bad Seed" by Maxwell Anderson, based on William March's novel, at 8:15 p.m. Friday at the Little Theater, located on 1670 Nectar St. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for seniors and students. Tickets can be purchased at CB Fox and at door.

 

SATURDAY

The Pajarito Astronomers will be holding their last county-sponsored Dark Night of the year at 6 p.m. Saturday at Spirio Soccer Field. The public is invited to come out and star gaze. During the evening, we will look at the planets Jupiter, Neptune, Uranus and Mars. There will be a tour of the autumn and winter constellations, and there will be telescope views of double stars, star clusters, nebulae and galaxies. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.  Viewing will end before midnight. Call Steve Becker at 662-3252 for information.

The Xi Nu Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi will be holding their 20th annual craft fair from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday from the Pueblo Gym to the First Baptist Church. Table rentals are $35 and the funds raised will benefit many community projects. Vendors can call Karen at 672-1012 for registration information.
