“The Next Frontier: Engineering the Golden Age of Green,” a documentary featuring American and European solutions to energy problems, will be screened at 7 p.m. at Pajarito Environmental Education Center, 3540 Orange St., The film will be introduced by the director and filmmaker, Brad Marshland. The event is free and open to the public, with donations welcome.

Bring in the New Year with the sounds of fireworks at the Los Alamos Fire and Ice New Year’s Eve Celebration, from 6 p.m.-1 a.m. at the Valles Caldera National Preserve.
